Ryan Sutter

Ryan Sutter is a reality TV personality and former firefighter best known for winning the first season of The Bachelorette and marrying Trista Sutter, making them one of the franchise’s longest-lasting couples. Sutter was brought up in Fort Collins, Colorado. He attended the University of Colorado Boulder, where he played defensive back for the Colorado Buffaloes football team. He was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the 1998 NFL Draft but injuries prevented him from playing in the NFL. He later became a firefighter in Vail, Colorado.

Sutter rose to fame in 2003 when he competed on the inaugural season of The Bachelorette. He received Trista Sutter’s final rose and proposed during the season finale. The couple married later that year in the televised special Trista & Ryan’s Wedding, becoming one of reality TV’s most recognizable success stories. While Sutter has not received any major entertainment awards, he and Trista Sutter have remained prominent figures within Bachelor Nation.

Following his reality TV breakthrough, Sutter appeared in projects including FireHouse TV, American Ninja Warrior and Trista and Ryan’s Honeymoon Hotspots (2005). He has also been involved in charitable work, including supporting the non-profit First Descents through endurance fundraising challenges.

Sutter married Trista in December 2003. They share two children: son Maxwell “Max” Alston Sutter (born in 2007) and daughter Blakesley Grace Sutter (born in 2009). The couple has continued to make occasional television appearances and share updates about their family life on social media.
