Dr. Drew Pinsky

Dr. David Drew Pinsky is a physician, addiction medicine specialist and media personality best known for offering medical and relationship advice on radio and television. He is the son of physician Morton Pinsky and singer and actress Helene Stanton. Pinsky attended Polytechnic School before studying biology at Amherst College, graduating in 1980. He earned his M.D. from the University of Southern California School of Medicine in 1984 and completed his residency at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, where he became chief resident.

Pinsky began appearing on Los Angeles radio station KROQ in 1984 as a medical student on Loveline, eventually becoming a cohost alongside Adam Carolla. The nationally syndicated program ran for more than three decades and led to an MTV television series. Pinsky later expanded into addiction-focused television with Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew and Sober House.

Pinsky later appeared in projects including Dr. Drew On Call, Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers and Teen Mom, offering his medical expertise on each program. He is also the author of The Mirror Effect: How Celebrity Narcissism Is Seducing America (2009) and Cracked: Putting Broken Lives Together Again (2003).

Pinsky married Susan Sailer in 1991. The couple share triplets Douglas, Jordan and Paulina (born in 1992).
