About

Carrie Fisher, the daughter of Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, was best known for her role as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars films. She reprised her role in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens and 2017’s The Last Jedi, which was released posthumously. For 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker, Carrie was included through unreleased footage from The Force Awakens. Carrie also appeared in 1989’s When Harry Met Sally and 2008’s The Women.

Carrie released the semi-autobiographical book Postcards from the Edge, which she adapted into a 1990 screenplay, in 1987. Her 2006 one-woman play, Wishful Drinking, inspired her to write her 2008 memoir of the same name. She also worked as a script doctor for 1992’s Sister Act, 1998’s The Wedding Singer and for many of the Star Wars films.

Carrie shared daughter Billie Lourd with Bryan Lourd, whom she dated from 1991 to 1994. In December 2016, Carrie died at age 60 following a sudden cardiac arrest. (Her mother died one day later at age 84.) Carrie was posthumously made a Disney Legend in 2017 and won the Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album the following year. In 2023, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
