Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin is an Oscar-winning actress best known for her roles in The Piano, True Blood and the X-Men film franchise. Paquin was born in Winnipeg, Canada, and she later moved with her family to New Zealand. She moved to the United States as a teenager and briefly attended Columbia College before dropping out to pursue acting full time.

Paquin made her film debut at age 9 in The Piano (1993), earning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at age 11, becoming one of the youngest Oscar winners in history. Following her success with the film, she received an invite to the William Morris Agency and subsequently continued to pursue acting. She built her career with roles in films including Fly Away Home (1996), Jane Eyre (1996), She’s All That (1999) and Almost Famous (2000). She reached a new level of fame in 2008 when she was cast as Sookie Stackhouse in HBO’s True Blood, a role that earned her a Golden Globe Award.

In addition to True Blood, Paquin is known for portraying Rogue in the X-Men movies, beginning with 2000’s X-Men. Her credits also include The Irishman (2019), Alias Grace, Flack, American Underdog (2021) and A Friend of the Family.

Paquin married her True Blood costar Stephen Moyer in 2010 after meeting on the set of the HBO series. The couple welcomed twins, a son and a daughter (born in 2012). Moyer also has two children from previous relationships. In 2010, she publicly came out as bisexual while participating in the “Give a Damn” campaign supporting LGBTQ+ equality.
