Britney Spears made a name for herself as a happy, wholesome pop star who was saving herself for marriage.
But lawyer Eric Ervin, who worked with Spears as a teenager, tells Us Weekly in its new cover story that the "virgin" image Spears portrayed was, in his words, a "PR blitz." In fact, Us reports in its new issue that Spears lost her virginity at 14 to boyfriend Reg Jones, and that she and Justin Timberlake were intimate from the beginning.
Something Spears also kept secret: Her family's tragic history.
Us has learned that Spears' paternal grandmother, Emma Jean Spears, in June 1966 committed suicide at age 31. Britney's grandmother, who suffered from depression, shot herself in the chest with a shotgun at the grave of her infant son who had died eight years earlier just three days after being born.
A local newspaper article obtained by Us reported at the time: "The shotgun had been pressed against the woman's chest and she apparently pulled the trigger with a toe of the right foot from which a shoe had been removed." The newspaper reported that Emma Jean had attempted suicide three times before.
Emma Jean Spears left behind four other children, including Britney's father, Jamie Spears, then an eighth grader. Two of Jamie Spears' brothers ended up with criminal records and homeless.
More troubling details on Britney Spears' disturbing childhood -- and how it plays a part in her behavior today appear in the new issue of of Us Weekly, on newsstands Wednesday nationwide.

I think that was very wrong for her so call friend to tell her business like that becasue it was a long time ago and why is he worried about it. She is already having problems in her life now. Reg openly claimed and admitted to taking Britnays virginity. In August 2001 i was in what was call Restriction with him. We were both in the military. He was in the navy and I was in the marines. We both getting discharged. Thats when he openly claimed he was Britnays first boyfriend and had sex with her. I sorta believed him back then. I think it absolutely pathetic to publish crap like this. It is not the worlds business what happened to her grandmother, and it does mean that she was mentally ill. If you stood at the grave of your newborn you might be tempted too. Brittney has made some silly choices, all of us have, just because she is a celebrity does not mean we need to continuesly bash her. And if I remember right the media assumed she was a virgin Jessica Simpson was the one proclaiming it. Lay off of Brittney, we all know that she needs parenting classes---but if she where your everyday girl she would not be going through half the crap she is, which is probably not helping any.

Britney Spears has put herself in this position. She keeps making bad choices. She chose this career and should know by now that everything she does is going to be posted up everywhere so why not next time she has to choose between right or wrong she chooses right for once. You would think she would want to be a good example to those who look up to her. She deserves the publicity and her fans deserve to know what kind of woman she really is so that they can decide whether or not to still support her music. It is all part of the celebrity lifestyle. She gets paid to be watched by all of America.

US Magazine - No Sympathy, no Conscience when it comes to the media and Britney Spears. It's gone beyond celebrity reporting. You just cash in on the sensationalism of someone whom is deeply troubled. Celebrity or not there's a time when you need to be human and back off! I feel very sad for her to say the least.

i think she just likes to live with the massive attention, she's been out the business eversince that kfed thing and i think she needed a boost of ego and under the pressure and depression,she became mentally ill. either her mom is pressuring her or she's just living it up, you'll never know, they do say her mom uses the girls as her BANK, and that's probably why her brother is never around, i didnt even know she had her brother, she brought this upon herself and one day she'll realize that she lost something really great: her family and two kids.
