Britney Spears was released after a week of treatment at the UCLA Medical Center, Usmagazine.com has confirmed.
After her release, Spears was spotted driving around. She appeared happy and was seen smoking cigarettes, eyewitnesses reported.
At approximately 3pm PST, Spears arrived smiling at the Beverly Hills Hotel. She was wearing a short purple dress and a plaid fedora.
A private security detail escorted the singer from the hospital around noon today, according to the Los Angeles Times, which first reported her release.
UCLA Medical Center Media liaison Mark Wheeler told Us that the hospital will "absolutely not" confirm or deny that Spears was released. Wheeler said the hospital has no plans to release a statement at this time due to patient confidentiality laws.
A law enforcement source told TMZ.com that UCLA released her "because she was no longer required to stay there after 11:30 AM" and that she was no longer deemed a threat to herself or others.
Spears was involuntarily committed to treatment for bipolar disorder on January 31 and was expected to remain hospitalized for another 10 days.
Since her hospitalization, her father, Jamie, was named as her coconservator, enabling him to make decisions about her medical treatment and her estate.

OH MY GOD. This happens all the time. At least she has people that care (somewhat) Have you ever had to deal with homeless or mentally ill people? Doctors release them all the time. The majority of homeless are people with mental illness you wont maintain their medication. You all complain about the the tax payer money as well as this hospitals ability to take care of (another) deserving individual.
I have a bi polar self destructive brother...Most often the doctors tell us he is his own problem or ours.

Pretty sad that she runs to her lawyers to get her money back but doesn't bother to show up to fight for her kids. I think the tabloids are right, she doesn't care about her kids at all only shopping and sleeping around. She has had more offers of help than the average person and yet she refuses.
As for her parents, knock it off on maligning them. They are human beings and they've made mistakes and I'm sure having to see what's become of their daughter ensures they are suffering enough because of it.
She is an adult and blaming mommy and daddy and K-Fed for your problems is not a mature thing to do. Most people with bad parents resolve to be good parents to their own children so they don't suffer like they did but she cares only for herself - that's quite apparent. She has the money and the means to leave this circus but she runs right back to it - obviously she thrives on it.
I give her a month and she's dead. Hopefully her lawyers exercise some common sense and ensure her Last Will and Testament is in order so her kids don't starve.

Everyone does need to back the hell of this girl and let her work things out. If you have never been diagnosed with a mental disorder, lost your entire family, been stuck to a scumball (all the men in her life), been stalked with hundreds of people taking your picture, or worst of all, had your babies ripped outta your arms....then you really have no idea where Britney is in life. How is it fair to pass judgement on this whole unfortunate mess? Britney needs to reevaluate her friends, leave the State for a while, find a competant therapist, and work her best at taking the 'good dad' mask off Kevin (he's probably somehow at the base of this). Britney is in my mind all day and I can only hope all goes well for her. If some of you were to try this, there would be a lot less biitchy, frustrated jackasses out there.

The girl thinks she is above anything anyone tries to help her with. She can't meet with her custody lawyers but she can hire one to keep her money - great priorities. Her parents staged an intervention which everyone seemed to think they should. Now that has failed. Now who are you going to blame? I blame her. Her choices, her life, her mistakes. Period. This girl needs help. period. I'm pretty sure she has more than just a personality disorder, it seems all this fame and chaos in her life, has probably finally took its toll on her, and she is now going in a downward spiral. Pills, drugs, alcohol, and who knows what else has been a great effect on her mindset and actions I'm sure.
