Usmagazine.com has learned that Britney Spears has been driving illegally in California for years. Spears, 25, still has a valid license in her home state of Louisiana, but since she has been a California resident she has not obtained a valid driver’s license in the state.
Jan Mendoza, Information Officer at the Department of Motor Vehicles explains to Us that state law requires new Californians to apply for a license from the state within ten days of establishing residency. Additionally, they must surrender their old licenses.
As Britney has worked, married, divorced and purchased numerous homes in California, Mendoza says it is clear that she has established residency, and, therefore, is driving illegally.
But that hasn't stopped Britney from driving. Britney was spotted over the weekend driving around Malibu with her two children in the back seat. It is not clear whether today's order to take custody of the children away from her is in any way related to her driving without a valid license.
"When you make your home here or take a job and you want to drive in California, you must apply for a California driver license within 10 days," said Mendoza. "Britney is considered an unlicensed driver in California, the vehicle codes are very specific."
Mendoza could not tell Us when, but she says that Spears has applied for a California license, and that the pop mom is still within the year limit for taking her written and behind-the-wheel driving test.

12:37 I agree with your entire post except for the drug thing. I think she may have dabbled (sp) with drugs but I don't believe she is a drug addict or an alcoholic. She gets stopped by cops, has police assistance, etc., but doesn't get busted for drinking or drugging.
I think breaking up with Justin was her downfall. She rebound fairly quickly getting married to that loser K-Fed. I just think Britney listens to nobody. Not her parents, not her agents, her management, her friends, her assistants...nobody. Thus her fall from grace.
I don't think she was prepared to be a mother. I think she was filling a void. The void is still there. I just hope she gets help to help herself and her children.

WineMeDineMe is right about one thing. Britney did start acting really strange right after the break-up with Justin. Not just the marriage, everything. Her songs! "The Touch of My Hand???" It was like Justin kept her from going off the edge and once he was gone it was just mayhem. I don't think she came from a white trash background though. She's a sweet southern girl. She worked really hard all her life. I know people who grew up on the sets with her and said she was basically supporting her family so she really worked herself to death. It was probably crazy pressure and she was a susceptible young girl. I think once drugs entered the picture it was just the beginning of the end. Some people have extremely addictive personalities. And she's probably one of them.

She is a troubled, emotionally unstable, drug addict and her lifestyle is out of control. While the entire debacle is sad to watch, it doesn't change the fact that she needs to grow up and take responsiblity for herself, particularly now that she is a mother.
THANK YOU!! It's about time someone tells it like it is. Kfed is not to blame here, Brit knew what she was getting into with him. She needs to start using her head a little more and thinking things through before acting.

and while I agree that the chest plates are too low (the kids can be easily ejected if she has a crash), the seats look to be properly installed. The lap belts go through the lower portion, and the LATCH system tethers the top (you can't see them because the Britax sits so high). But, that said, her handlers made sure that she got some of the best carseats made; Britax rocks! (Of course, they're one of the more expensive ones around...about $230 or so a piece, so maybe she just wanted the "best..."???

Those children are not buckled into their seats properly. The chest plate is to be even with the armpits and snug. Looks low and loose to me. This isn't safe and would qualify as child endangerment, especially in a convertible.

I must say anyone who supports Brit is pretty pathetic, if it was any other regular citizen they would be held responsible for their action as parents, by law and as human beings. I see no diff with Brit; she is selfish and has no heart for her own kids. Grow up kids (fans). Say what you will about Kevin while they were married, but since she filed for divorce, he has stayed out of the public eye, kept his nose clean and does not parade these two babies out in public (& I am sure the paparazzi would pay big money to see him out and about). Except for a few photos of him going out, he rarely see him. Clearly I don't know him from hole in the wall, but from what is printed daily in the press and reported in the news....you don't hear a peep out of him. Anyone that does spill the beans on him all say he is a good dad (apparently even HER parents think so). The mother is NOT always the best parental figure and in this case, the judge agreed that those two boys are safer and better off with their father. Kevin didn't do this to Britney - she did all to herself after months of erratic behavior.

In this day and age, it takes alot to have a mother lose custody of her children. The only one that allowed this to happen is Britney - she has no one to blame, but herself. I love you Brit. Your fans love you. And your family loves you (though they have been absent for some time). Look at this as a way to find positive avenues for your life. You need to focus on things more substantial. When I say substantial, I don't mean another platinum record or becoming the top 20 most beautiful in People. I mean being there for your kids and showing externally the great person you already are internally. You've given inspiration and hope to so many fans, and it's time for you to look internally and find what you're lacking in your life. Unlike other insecure people who want to see you fail because it makes them feel better, many people are worried for you and want to see you win. You are so beautiful and talented and it's only up to you to see that. Never listen to these horrible people that turned on you and always look for a higher purpose.
