Britney Spears' former publicist Lizzie Grubman is shocked at the turn of events in Britney Spears' life.
"Never in a million years would I have believed it would go this way!" she tells Us Weekly in its new issue, on newsstands now. "When I first started working with her she was this humble, sweet little girl."
Grubman blames her problems on that fact that Spears "didn't have a childhood which made everything worse," she says.
"There is still a real girl in there, but she's shutting people out and doesn't want to trust anybody," she adds. "It's all very tragic and sad how it turned out."

At 21, you really don't have much (whether or not you have money). You just have the false strength of youth; you think that you will just waltz right in and knock everyone's socks off. Good luck; I hope it works for you. Remember, though, that there are many of us here who were already 21 (and had the same attitude as you); the only difference is that we have been tempered by real life. We're still strong, still rich, still focused and successful, but we're also much more wise than you can ever pretend to be at this point in your life.

I agree with Ellie minus the point that Britney chose this. No one would choose what her life has become. She is followed a great degree more than any other celebrity. When Britney started her music career she was fifteen. No one has any idea what fame will really be like at fifteen. And to defend her mother, she was just doing what her little girl wanted. She couldn't have possibly known how this would all turn out. The paps have gotten much worse since the 90's, when Britney started. The media has a much greater presence in a celeb's life now than they ever did in the past. Britney could not possibly have known she was signing up for this, because there has never been another Britney Spears. She is absolutely unique in the world wide obsession everyone has with her (whether they like her or not).

I don't think Britney is "ruined". She needs time to deal with the reality of a broken heart. She is what she has been described as- a sweet girl with a big heart. She has been hurt very deeply and hasn't adjusted. Like many, not trusting is a new concept and she has shut down and hasn't found a way to open back up to all of the ugliness that is now her reality. Maybe if everyone would leave her alone she could find her way back. Kfed needs to be ashamed of himself for using his intimite knowledge of her to hurt her because she chose not to allow him to continue using her.

The reason this happen is because there really was no REALITY in this dishrags world. Her mother was pimping her out and living off her daughter. I agree. Britney is not crazy. She is a crystal meth addict. The way she acts, and always sucking on lollypops and chewing gum, having violent outbursts, staying up all night, her HUGE pupils, her bad skin....it is SO obvious she has a serious drug problem. Even her former bodyguard said he saw her using a substance that looked like meth, he also saw a glass pipe in her hotel when she was strung out

I think we can all say that we all agree that Britney is messed up. I strongly disagree with people who blame it SOLELY on the paparazzi and the media. SHE chose a career, or rather her mother did, but either way she SIGNED UP for this. When she decided to persue her career, she was basically signing a contract that says "I AGREE WITH THE PAPARAZZI FOLLOWING ME". They do follow her excessively and I agree that that hasn't helped her recover, but its not JUST the media's fault. SHE or someone she can actually TRUST should step in and help her out.

She was broken to begin with and he started noticing it while they were married and called her on it. Thats what peeved her off about him - he was trying to help her. Then she filed for divorce without notice. Kevin has been dealing with this for a long time. He is the bigger person here as he has stuck by her family and been as supportive as he can without putting his children at risk.
She is a time-bomb. It is sad. She is a person underneath it all and I wish she would get help.

K-Fed didn't ruin her. She ruined herself. Too much too soon. She refused to do what her counterparts Christina and Alicia Keys did and was take a hiatus and re-charge. Then come back when saw fit. Britney was always self-destructive. The illusion of her being wholesome came to an end when she started sporting tattoos at the end of 1999, was revealed to be a chain smoker on SNL in May of 2000 (she wasn't faking it), then her being a girl who drank and did drugs and a cheater in 2002. After her split from Justin, her sales crashed with each album whilst her ex became one of the biggest stars in history. Justin is now one of the biggest solo stars in history. Aguilera went through a rebellion stage but married a music exec from her management company and is going on hiatus again to be a mom. Beyonce is bigger now than when she was with Destiny's Child. Britney has taken one drug binge of ecstacy and meth too many to the point where her brain is permanently DESTROYED! Same happened to Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett after he took vast amounts of LSD. Britney is brain damaged.
