Lauren: Her financials are all the research needed. You could do some yourself. She did not give half a million to help the Katrina aftermath. She gave a TOTAL of $350k. She gave a TOTAL of $590k that year. That includes $30k to a Kabbalah group. Other donations included $25k to her summer camp, $6k to American Cancer Society, and $50k each to Gilda’s Club and City of Hope. She also donated $50k to a PRIVATE school in Mass. All of those donations came from her foundation which is run by a woman out of her home in Mass. The foundation was set up by a company that sets up foundations in a person's name after Britney's manager met the head of the company.

The year before, 2004, she gave $20k. In 2003 she gave $110,820. These are numbers according to tax filings. According to the woman who runs the foundation her lower donation amount in 2006 are as a result of a lack of funds. This is the same year Britney spent over 1.2 million on her personal entertainment, $30k on her phone service, $192k on clothing, and $57k on eating out as compared to the $6k on her own foundation.

Clearly her donations are sporadic. The even amount of her donations for the year show that the money is disbursed likely by a money manager. Any decent manager will see to it that a person of her wealth will have donated to charity for tax purposes. Keep in mind that the money she gives to her foundation does not all have to be given out for her to receive the tax write off and that the person running the foundation also receives a salary out of the contributions.

In 2005 she donated over half a million dollars for Katrina victims, a children's playroom (for cancer victims), as well as a children's camp, she started, and has been funding for years. Before her financial information came out, I am sure that people assumed that she did not donate any money to anything, BUT now that everyone knows her business, and that she does donate money, there is criticism about that too. Britney is a generous young woman, who donates money to charities because she wants to, not because she has to. There are alot of celebrities her age that don't donate a thing to any cause.

Actually, her financial records show she has done the bare minimum regarding charity. Her charitable works seem to be more about PR than actually helping charities. A total of $6,000.00 a year for her OWN organization. That's it. Odds are that means that any person employed by her charity group is paid out of that 6 thousand, THEN the rest is distributed to another charity. So the idea that she has always done charity work is not supported by her recent financials.

The girl is a marketing genius, or someone who reps her is... She needs to be because her music sucks.
