Mandisa

31
Season:
Five (top 10 finisher)
Current Location:
Nashville
Relationship Status:
Super Single (and looking!)
Mandisa Tells Us:
"All I’ve ever wanted to be was a singer, but immediately after the Idols Live! tour ended in the fall of 2006, I not only signed a record deal with a major label but also a plus size clothing modeling contract and a book publishing deal! My book, Idoleyes: My New Perspective on Faith, Fat, and Fame - which gives a behind-the-scenes glimpse of my time on American Idol, has gone on to touch thousands of lives in the areas that I struggle with myself. My CD True Beauty was released in July 2007 and was also nominated for a Grammy! I recently completed a 30-city sold-out arena tour and am now beginning work on two new projects: a Christmas CD due out this fall and my sophomore CD, which will be released next spring. I am a living witness that God can do more than you could ever ask, think, or imagine!"

Rank The Idols

Check back here each week to find our Us Idol Rankings, where we’ll handicap the current competition and offer candid commentary on who we think will get booted and who has the potential to win it all

1

David Archuleta

Simply put, Archie's finale triple play left Us speechless, and while he started off spooked, his nerves subsided just in time to deliver his most mature and emotional vocals to date. David's reprise of "Imagine" was as flawless as "In This Moment" was heartfelt, and it is clear that he is destined for super stardom. Our only fear for the teen titan? How he'll fare in the mainstream music and media scene after the initial Idol wave subsides. But for the time being, get in line, girls and grandmas - and say hello to your new American Idol!

David Cook

Having rooted for the King of Originality for the past 12 weeks, it was especially tough for Us to see him essentially hand over the title when offering more of the same style and sound on finale night. His cover of U2's iconic "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" gave Us chills from the start, but DC just didn't put enough thought into his contestants' choice and Idol songwriter songs - "The World I Know" and "Dream Big," respectively - making it nearly impossible to recover. Our prediction? David A. will take the title, but Cook will - rightfully so - sell more records. Let the climb to the top of the Billboard charts commence!
